Fermented Bean Paste Pork Soup 豆酱猪肉汤

 
Simple and delicious


Sk's mother used to cook this soup for breakfast when SK was young and she never stopped cooking it in later life. It goes down very well with porridge. It is easy to cook and does not take up too much time and effort.


Ingredients


700ml water 
150g pork (cut into thin slices)
30g spring onion - sectioned
30g Chinese celery- sectioned
70g fermented bean paste
2 tsp cornflour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar


 A bottle of fermented bean paste or tau cheo


Pork marinade 


In a bowl, add 2 tsp of cornflour to the pork slices and mix thoroughly.


Instructions

 

1) In a pot, bring 700 ml of water to the boil.
2) Over high flame, add fermented bean paste and pork slices and stir. Let it simmer for 4 minutes.
3) Add Chinese celery and spring onion and let it simmer for 1 minute
4) Add salt and sugar.
5) Scoop up and serve.


Succulent pork slices coated with cornflour is so smooth and tasty.
